Food Review: Pearl 明 珠 酒 樓

Pearl 明 珠 酒 樓

One of the few Chinese restaurants around the Bayview/Sheppard area is Pearl restaurant 明 珠 酒 樓. They also have an even larger restaurant by the Harbourfront downtown Toronto.

As you see, it's quite busy on a Saturday night (photo above).

The storefront is small because it's located inside Bayview Village. Thought we'd give it a try since we were in the area and it was rounding dinner time.

The menu is decent but definitely way over priced for Chinese food at other restaurants around Toronto.

E-mein noodles (17.00) | Review: The e-mein was only okay. The noodles weren't bad but it wasn't the same and it wasn't a good "same taste".

Seafood U-don noodles ($19.00) | Review:  the plate was way too bland. A little more spice or salt would have helped. The plate, for that price, was much too small. It could feed probably 1.5 person.

Corn soup ($5.00) | Review: Similar to the first two dishes, it was all good except for a lack of salt.

The only thing that made this good was the complimentary fried chips & dessert (red bean soup).

Overall..... I'd give it at low 2.2/5

The service ......................... 2/5 (manager/waiter was repetitive, always re-asking us our order)
The atmosphere ................................................................................................................. 4/5
The price .................................................................................. 1/5 (over-priced)
The location .......................................................................... 3.5/5 (great location, convenient)
