Food Review: Dynasty Chinese Cuisine

This chinese cuisine is located inside Commerce Gate on the second floor. The place can hold many people (banquet style) but the space has been left unkept. Right where you enter, the foyer area, is cluttered with a big used sofa, office supplies and stacked chairs. My immediate impression of this restaurant was bad.... horribly bad.

We got there before 6:00pm and we're the first customers. The place was bright, which I liked.

Here comes the list of our ordered items.

Veggie Spring roll ($1.50)

Sliced Beef Shank ($5.50)

Fried bean curd ($5.50)

The first three items were the appetizers. The spring roll was much too oily for our taste. We had to pat it down to reduce the oil. The sliced beef was unbelievably small portion to its price. The taste, however, was good.  Our last app, the fried bean curd, was funny to us. It cost the same price as the sliced beef, but this dish was a gigantic portion. The taste was the same as the spring roll, much too oily and very bland. If it had cooked correctly, the skin of the fried bean curd would not be soggy as it had been. Very disappointed in their apps.

The main dishes

Snow Pea Shoot ($14.80)

Fried pork chop with spicy salt ($12.80)

The only good part about our dinner experience was the main two dishes, and only because it's one of my favorite chinese foods to order at restaurants. However, the snow pea shoot was not at all tender and made for a much harder and tough chew. The pork chops were good, but then again, can you really go wrong with that?

We finished as much as we can, but between the two of us, this was a lot of food. We came her only because a voucher brought us here. It gave us $40 credit which equals up to a lot of food, unless we ordered seafood.

Overall, I was very displeased with this chinese restaurant located in Richmond Hill. It was disappointing on our second time here.

Here's a little fun story to tell you about this Dynasty restaurant
The first time we came, we purchased a voucher that allowed us to order a set of 15 dim sum dishes chosen beforehand. We made sure that the hostess and the waiter(s) that we spoke with understood what our voucher was. Everyone just nodded and said "Of course, of course". Of course that's when they screwed up our ordered. Not being aware that the most recent dish that they served us was NOT on our list of food items, we asked to speak to the waiter. It seemed that no one was competent enough to help us and then came the owner. A very shrewd man.

He argued with us (his customers) for over 30 minutes and would not fix the problem on our terms. The mistake was done by the Captain (a position higher than the waiter) but the owner would not fess up or make anything right for us. We only found out after we finished half of the wrong dish and then called them to ask why. He argued that we had consumed the wrong dish and therefore we must pay full price for it. We were not allowed to have just substituted as one of our 15 dim sum dishes... even though what they gave us (plain congee) was less than what we had ordered (seafood congee, more expensive). But being that the plain congee regular price making the voucher deal NOT a deal anymore. We were mad.  He did not care and said he would charge us regular price for the food item we consumed and then afterwards we had to purchase from the regular menu OR we could use our voucher as credit.

His options were not very good nor did it make us want to come back.. EVER. And that was my plan of action; to never come back. Unfortunately, my fellow eating partner had already purchased 1 more voucher for this very restaurant. So... what to do? Suck it up and TRY to get through another bad food experience one last time.

We did and now I warn ALL my fellow fans and friends, if you want bad customer service (from the owner led alone), bland food, dirty and untidy restaurant atmosphere, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay very far away from DYNASTY CHINESE CUISINE RESTAURANT.

Overall, I rate this restaurant 0/5 stars

You have been warned!
